"Heartful Melody" CANVAS LOUNGE Concert 2025 Regular Event

The annual CANVAS LOUNGE concert has been confirmed for 2025.
This year, the first round will be held in June, the second round in September, the third round in December, and the fourth round in March 2026.
We plan to feature familiar instruments such as violins, clarinets, and quartets, and will offer a selection of instruments and music that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, from children to adults.
We hope you will have a heartwarming time with all of the participants.

December 20, 2025 (Sat): Clarinet Quartet
With the charming soft tone of the wooden clarinet, we will play a wide range of music, from famous Christmas numbers to authentic classical music, and deliver the full charm of the clarinet.

Higashide Nana
Born in Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture. After graduating from Kyoto Municipal Kyoto Horikawa Music High School and the Faculty of Music at Kyoto City University of Arts, she completed the Toho Orchestra Academy training course. She was nominated for the 2021 Matsukata Music Award audition and was selected to perform at the Okiden Sugar Hall Newcomer Concert in December of the same year. She was also selected for the 10th Japan Clarinet Competition. She has studied clarinet under Yasuyuki Kono, Terumi Murakami, Masaharu Yamamoto, and Naoko Otaniguchi.
He currently performs as a guest orchestral performer, soloist, and chamber musician in the Kansai and Kyushu regions.

Yuka Togawa
Born in Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture. Graduated from the music department of Takamatsu Daiichi High School and the Faculty of Music at Kyoto City University of Arts, before completing a master's degree at the university's Graduate School of Music. Completed classes with Michael Collins at the 24th and 28th Hamamatsu International Wind Instrument Academy, and with Masaharu Yamamoto at the Rohm Music Foundation Music Seminar 2019. Received a scholarship from the Yonden Cultural Promotion Foundation in 2022. Previously, he has studied clarinet under Koji Ishikawa, Takashi Ishikawa, Ayako Oura, Sae Azuma, Naoko Otaniguchi, and Takako Umemoto.

Junnosuke Sone
Born in Ibaraki City, Osaka Prefecture. 25 years old. Started playing the clarinet at the age of 12 in the brass band at his junior high school. After attending Kitasenri High School in Osaka Prefecture, he graduated from the Faculty of Music, Kyoto City University of Arts, majoring in wind and percussion instruments, in March 2023, and received the Kyoto Music Association Award. He performed at the university's graduation concert and the 39th Yamaha Wind Instrument Newcomer Concert. He has studied clarinet under Naoko Otaniguchi and Yuto Yoshida. He is currently enrolled in the Toho Orchestra Academy training course.

Souo Chisaka
Born in Yawata City, Kyoto Prefecture. Graduated from Kyoto Prefectural Kyoto Yawata High School. Graduated from the Faculty of Music at Kyoto City University of Arts. Participated in the 24th Hamamatsu International Wind Instrument Academy & Festival. Appeared in the Professor Recommended Premium Concert. Participated in the Rohm Music Foundation Music Seminars 2018 and 2019. Received second place and the Kobe Mayor's Award in the woodwind instrument division of the 20th Japan Performers Competition. Studied clarinet under Muranishi Toshiyuki, Murakami Terumi, and Otaniguchi Naoko.

Primarily a melodic instrument, it has a soft, clear tone that exudes warmth, elegance and delicacy. The flute is a fascinating instrument. We enjoyed a duet of flutes that can express a wide range of tones.
<Performer Profile>
Honami Wakui (Flute)
After graduating from Kyoto Municipal Music High School (now Kyoto Municipal Kyoto Horikawa Music High School), she graduated from the Department of Music at Doshisha Women's College of Liberal Arts. She was selected to compete in the high school division of the 62nd All-Japan Student Music Competition Osaka Tournament. She placed 5th in the university women's flute division of the 22nd Japan Classical Music Competition. She was selected to compete in the piccolo division of the 17th Japan Flute Convention Competition. She has studied under Kobayashi Chiaki, Toratani Tomoko, Nagayama Keiko, Ichikawa Tomoko, and Masumoto Ryuji. She currently works as a teacher and orchestra player, mainly in the Kansai region. She is a flute and piccolo instructor at JEUGIA Music Salon Sanjo.
Chisato Matsuoka (Flute)
He started playing the flute at the age of 12. He graduated from Osaka Kyoiku University, Faculty of Education, Department of Liberal Arts, Arts and Music Course, and completed the Graduate School of Education, Arts and Culture, Music Research Course at the same university. He won the 37th Kirishima International Music Festival Award and 1st place in the wind instruments category at the 21st Choko Cup International Music Competition. He has studied flute under Otsuka Yukiko and Nakatsuka Haruyuki. He is currently a flutist with Philharmonic Winds Osaka (Oosakan) and a lecturer at the Keihanna Youth Wind Orchestra. Based in the Kansai region, he is active in a wide range of fields, including solo, ensemble and wind orchestra performances and numerous recordings, while also mentoring the next generation of flutists.

<Performer Profile>
Marino Yagira (violin)
Born in Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture. After graduating from Kyoto City University of Arts, he completed his Master's degree in Instrumental Music (Strings) at the Graduate School of Music at the same university with top honors. He has received numerous awards, including the Excellence Award at the 16th Kobe International Music Competition. He performed Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto with the Nakaumi Symphony Orchestra, and held a recital in Matsue the following year.
He was a member of Yutaka Sado's Super Kids Orchestra for three years and appeared in the musical "Untitled Concert."
Former contract member of the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra.
Saya Ikeda (violin)
After graduating from Kyoto Municipal Horikawa Music High School, he attended Kyoto City University of Arts and completed a Master's degree in string music at the Graz University of the Arts in Austria.
Selected for the string instrument category at the 14th Osaka International Music Competition, second place at the 20th Kumagusu no Sato Music Competition, Encouragement Award at the string instrument category at the 16th Japan Performers Competition, and first place at the 4th King's Peak International Music Competition.
She studied violin under the late Naomi Ishida, Reiko Tachibana, the late Nobu Wakabayashi, Akiko Ikegawa, Takashi Izumihara, and Eszter Haffner.
Sao Goto (viola)
Born in Yamaguchi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Started playing the violin at the age of 3. Graduated from Kyoto Municipal Kyoto Horikawa Music High School and Kyoto City University of Arts, Faculty of Music, majoring in strings.
She has studied violin under Shizuko Ishii, Kazuyo Kimura, Sonoko Numata, and Takashi Izumihara.
Currently, he performs in a wide range of genres, mainly in the Kansai region, including orchestras, chamber music, pop music, contemporary music, and performing arts, and also teaches the next generation of musicians.
Yuta Kawada (cello)
He started self-studying the cello at the age of 19. In March 2013, he graduated from the Faculty of Music at Kyoto City University of Arts.
While still a student, he participated in many music festivals and seminars, including the Seiji Ozawa Music Academy, Kyoto Relay Music Festival, and Phoenix OSAQA (JSQ instructor), and attended a master class with François Salc.
In addition to guest appearances and instruction with professional orchestras, he is also actively involved in planning chamber music and outreach concerts. In recent years, he has expanded his activities to include string arranging.
He has studied under Hayashi Yutaka, Amada Kazutaka, and Uemura Noboru.
